Mucho Soul
began life back in the Spring of 2001 as a monthly club night in Soho, London. The brainchild of long time muso’s and DJ’s Ket Shah and Alan Kenny Arscott (DJ A.K.A), they initially set out to encompass all manner of music with the emphasis on Soul to a wild and appreciative Saturday night crowd. Their original mantra read “from classic and two-step soul to deep and soulful house”, however, their music policy developed soon after to include a more varied and eclectic array of styles ranging from Jazz, Disco, Reggae, Funk, Hip Hop and House right through to the very best fresh Electronica.

Since those early heady days at the turn of the new millennium, Mucho Soul have gone on to appear and guest at various high profile events including: the Inspiracion Festival 2009 in Tenerife alongside Gilles Peterson, Rainer Truby and Simbad, The Sunsplash Antalyar 2010 Festival in Turkey with Norman Jay, Phil Asher and Lefto and The Southport Weekender 50th Anniversary in May 2014 with Chaka Khan, Archie Bell & The Drells, Carl Cox and Kerri Chandler.

During 2014 Mucho Soul were regular guests at The Deep Into Soul Terrace Parties alongside DJ Spinna, Paul Trouble Anderson and Rhemi and The Native Soul Parties with Deep House Heroes Osunlade, Culoe De Song, Grant Nelson and Rocco. In the Summer of 2014 Ket and Al also put together and promoted a series of ‘Soul On The South Bank’ London specials which featured live appearances from Nathan Haines, Vanessa Freeman and DaLata with guest DJ’s including Dr Bob Jones and Patrick Forge.

Last year (2015) was a particularly big year for Mucho Soul as they took their inimitable style to the big Latitude 10th Anniversary Festival in Suffolk playing with Ashley Beedle, Natty Bo and Abi Clarke in the Woodlands whilst also gracing the glorious Beach Stage at The Southern Soul Festival in Montenegro (www.southernsoulfestival.com) playing a much acclaimed sun drenched afternoon set alongside Ron Trent, Gilles Peterson, Jarrod Lawson and Matthew Halsall. Additionally towards the end of the summer, Mucho Soul guested at the big Wilderness Festival in Oxford where they entertained the masses with a special Latin infused mix on the Jose Cuervo Tequila Town stage with DJ Harv and The Size Doesn’t Matter Crew.

In addition to regular live DJ appearances, for the past five years Alan and Ket also presented their Mucho Soul Radio Show on Back2Back FM. The Mucho Soul has built up a strong following of devoted followers tuning in to hear Ket and Al’s weekly broadcasts which have included critically acclaimed interviews with guests including Jazz Funk legend Lonnie Liston Smith, Don of the Disco and originator of the first twelve inch single Tom Moulton, Acid Jazz pioneers Eddie Pillar and Dean Rudland, Rare Groove legend Norman Jay, Afro and Deep House specialist Atjazz and Global Disco superstars Danny Krivit, Joe Claussell and Francois Kevorkian (a.k.a Body and Soul).

Ket Shah and Alan Kenny Arscott (DJ A.K.A) have over 40 years of DJ-ing experience between them as they continue to deliver soulful music of the highest quality, happily merging styles from long lost forgotten Jazz gems to fresh off the press, sought after Soul and in demand secret up-front musical weapons, Mucho Soul have all bases covered.
